How is your Indoor Air Quality?

Spring View of Cherry Blossoms

Spring is a great season. Birds start chirping again, the trees and flowers begin to bloom, and the weather starts to warm up. But, did you know that allergens are at their most prevalent in the spring time? All of the flowers blooming causes pollen and other allergens to be released into the air, and incidentally, into your home.

How do you combat this, you ask? Take notes, because here are a couple tips to help you prevent allergens from causing problems in your home.

  • 1.Regular filter changes will trap a lot of the allergens floating around.
    • Depending on the thickness of the filter, some may need to be changed monthly and some may need to be changed every 3-6 months.

  • 2.A Pure Air system removes the pollen and dust from the air that is circulating throughout your duct work.
    • It is placed in the duct work to treat the air as it moves through the filter.
    • The pollen and dust are removed from the air through a process called Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO).
      • PCO uses a three step protocol to eliminate allergens from the air. The extremely simple explanation is that an ultraviolet light shines over the filter to create a chemical reaction to remove the particles from the air.

  • 3.Routine maintenance checks will keep your system running at peak efficiency. The more efficient your system is, the better it will perform.

Dirty AC

If you’re in the Kansas City metro area we will come out and check your HVAC system. Click here to schedule an appointment with our service side!

If you’re not in our service area, make sure you get a certified professional technician out there to do an annual tune up on your system.

  • Plus, this also saves you a tremendous amount of money, and who doesn’t want that?

Clean AC

This is why it is important to get your AC tuned up annually. A check up prevents build up like the left picture above. The right one is what your air conditioner should look like after the tune up is completed.

While the warmer air feels good on our skin, we might take our air conditioners (or furnaces) for granted. Sometimes the days can slip by and we don’t give our furnace or AC unit any thought, and that’s not good. Make sure you give your HVAC system the attention it deserves because if the filter is forgotten about it can cause a lot of problems. These problems can include an increase in your energy bills and shortening the life of your HVAC system.
